Key Responsibilities

  • Provides operational leadership and support on large convention bookings during high volume banquet seasons and other high profile events.
  • Ensures accuracy in recording all details on contracts, proposals and correspondence with particular emphasis on menu information, pricing, organization and set-up and billing requirements.
  • Initiates credit arrangements for catering customers with the accounting department. 
  • Assists in the development of convention menus and pricing.
  • Monitors buffet and bar production levels and service.
  • Provides leadership and management support to Banquet staff.
  • Manages performance through performance appraisals, ongoing coaching, training, and the discipline process. 
  • Oversees the purchasing process of all banquet supplies and equipment. 
  • Provides creative solutions to meet the customers' needs by up-selling and making menu modifications. 
  • Takes the initiative to anticipate and exceed clients’ expectations. 
  • Prepares monthly action plans and conducts a monthly review of said plans and key accounts. 
  • Develops new meeting packages to increase the quality of offerings.  
  • Continually reviews and analyzes conference service guidelines, core standards, procedures and policies. 
  • Follows up with clients to assess satisfaction, measures results and where necessary establishes strategies to improve the quality of the customers’ experience.  
  • Acts as an energetic leader, fostering teamwork among conference service staff, maintaining positive employee relations and promoting open communication. 
  • Takes on additional responsibilities as required. 

 

What You Bring

  • 5 years convention or catering experience in a hospitality establishment 
  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory role 
  • Post-secondary education in Hospitality or related field 
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills
  • Attention to detail and able to multi task
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Strong project management skills
  • Working knowledge with computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, email, Internet navigation, and presentation software
  • Hotel experience considered an asset
  • Experience using INFOR and IDEAS considered an asset
  • Social Media experience considered an asset
