Key Responsibilities
Director of Rooms is an integral part of Rosemead House opening overseeing all aspects of preparing guest rooms and accommodations for our grand opening. This position will oversee day-to-day operations of the Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations, Guest Services, and Maintenance departments and this position directly reports to General Manager.
- As a pre-opening member, create a strong foundation of Rooms Division with training manual, checklist and assisting with onboarding all new associates.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management for all associates in the Rooms Division and conducting orientations for new associates.
- Configure and update the current PMS system in place and monitor its setup through the opening phases.
- Verifies that goals are being translated to the team as they relate to guest tracking and productivity.
- Assists in performing the required annual Quality audit with General Manager
Creates and nurtures a property environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, continuous improvement, and a passion for providing service.
- Ensure smooth coordination in Front Office department to guarantee guests receive an impeccable, seamless experience from Arrival to Departure.
- Maintain quality standards and ensure rooms division departments are meeting the luxury standards of Rosemead House.
- Monitor and manage room inventory, ensuring maximum occupancy and revenue generation.
- Reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
- Ensure all guest requests and complaints are handled efficiently and professionally, always striving to exceed expectations.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the Rooms Division team, ensuring a highly engaged and trained workforce.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings to communicate key objectives, updates, and service standards.
- Verifies property policies are administered fairly and consistently, disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs)
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among departments to promote teamwork and staff retention.
- Assist in the creation and management of the Rooms Division budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining service excellence.
- Review and control inventories, supplies, and operational expenses within the Rooms Division.
- Champion the delivery of personalized guest services to create memorable, luxurious experiences.
- Ensure all VIP guests receive special attention, handling their requests promptly and professionally.
- Review guest feedback, including surveys and online reviews, and publish all guest satisfaction results in a timely fashion including all guest satisfaction forms, comment cards and guest letters.
- Work closely with other departments to address any cross-departmental needs or guest feedback including Food and Beverage and Maintenance.
- Ensure that all departments adhere to the hotel’s standards, policies, and legal requirements, including health and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel management in a luxury boutique hotel overseeing rooms operations is required.
- Hotel pre-opening experience is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of hotel management software and systems is a must.
- Must be detail orientated to ensure accuracy in all administrative tasks.
- Proficiency in using computers and hotel management software are required.
- Highly organized and able to multitask effectively and work under changing priorities.
- Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
- High level of empathy and patience to provide a personalized experience for both guests and associates.
- Excellent leadership, and interpersonal skills and being able to demonstrate emotional intelligence when dealing with conflicts.
- Strong communication abilities with guests, staff, and senior management, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
A Valid Driver's license (Class 5) is required.
- Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs. and lift/carry up to 20lbs multiple times a day
Education in hospitality management is an asset.
