Job Description

Shadowbird is excited to launch a new and unique dining experience on the North Shore in early 2025, combining two levels of distinctive food concepts: one floor devoted to elevated casual Italian cuisine and another to elevated bar/pub fare. We are seeking an experienced and inspiring General Manager to lead this venture, fostering a strong culture of hospitality and community, and ensuring the highest standards of service and operational excellence.

Position Overview

As the General Manager, you’ll oversee all aspects of the restaurant’s operations, from daily service and guest relations to staffing, financial management, and team development. You’ll work closely with ownership and our head chef to create a seamless guest experience that aligns with Shadowbird’s mission to build a welcoming, community-centered atmosphere. Your leadership will play a crucial role in setting the tone for a positive, vibrant work culture that inspires both the team and our guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and Inspire the Team: Recruit, train, and mentor front-of-house staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and high standards.
• Maintain High Service Standards: Ensure a consistently excellent guest experience, overseeing service quality, handling guest feedback, and resolving any issues promptly.
• Financial Management: Oversee budgets, manage operating costs, and optimize revenue; monitor financial metrics including labor costs, food and beverage costs, and profitability.
• Promote a Positive Work Environment: Cultivate a supportive, team-oriented atmosphere and promote employee engagement, focusing on staff retention and development.
• Collaborate on Marketing and Community Engagement: Partner with ownership and the culinary team to develop and execute promotions, events, and community outreach initiatives that enhance Shadowbird’s local impact.
• Oversee Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards and maintain a clean, organized front-of-house environment.
• Inventory and Purchasing Management: Oversee inventory and ordering to ensure stock levels are maintained, minimizing waste and optimizing profitability.
Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a management role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
• Strong Leadership Skills: Proven track record of building and managing effective teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Financial Acumen: Knowledgeable in budgeting, P&L management, labor cost control, and maximizing profitability.
• Commitment to Guest Service: Strong focus on guest satisfaction, with the ability to handle challenges calmly and professionally.
• Collaboration and Team Orientation: Works well in a collaborative environment, with a willingness to partner with both front- and back-of-house teams.
• Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with POS systems, scheduling software, and other restaurant management tools.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base Salary: $75,000–$95,000, with the potential for up to 20% bonus paid quarterly based on performance.
• Health Benefits: Extended health, vision, and dental coverage.
• Career Growth: Be part of a unique restaurant opening with growth and advancement potential as we establish Shadowbird as a community landmark.
