Welcome to the Nanoose Bay Cafe, a true west coast hospitality experience with a stunning marina ocean view! We are a growing company and excited to be in one of the most spectacular restaurant locations on Vancouver Island. We are an upscale casual restaurant that focuses on seafood with a hint of Asian influence. We have an extensive wine and cocktail program to compliment every dining experience for our guests. The Role:
We are looking for experienced Sous Chef with strong work ethic, leadership skills and a great attitude to join our exciting team here at the Nanoose Bay Café! If you have prior experience leading a culinary team, you are detail orientated & organized, able to multi-task, we would love to have you on our team.
What You’ll do:
Possess the aptitude of strong oversight – able to quantify prep tasks and prepare the kitchen for service with detail and excellence
Managing of food/labour costs - able to maintain food cost targets through portion and waste control, inventory management, and labour
Cooking and preparing dishes of the highest quality for our guests to enjoy
Assisting the Chef de Cuisine in all of their specific duties and assume that role in the absence of the CDC
Training of all kitchen personnel, responsible for performance management and team development
Maintaining and managing others to operate a clean, neat and presentable kitchen
Demonstrate proper use and knowledge of all food preparation and cooking equipment and procedures at all times for all stations
Work quickly and efficiently to deliver consistent and delicious dishes
Support all team members in every role both front of house and back of house
Communicate effectively between shifts and with culinary leaders and peers
Other duties as assigned
Our Ideal Candidate:
Possesses a warm and welcoming personality, is friendly and outgoing, demonstrating a positive attitude and energy at all times
4+ year of high-volume kitchen experience an asset
3+ year of leadership or managing capacity in a similar workplace setting
Strong organization skills, able to work calmly and effectively under pressure
Set an example for a respectful, collaborative team while demonstrating appropriate working behaviors
