Job Description: Pastry Chef at Langara Fishing Lodge, Haida Gwaii
Location: Langara Island, Haida Gwaii, BC
Position Type: Contract (May - September)
Shift: 11-hour shifts, 6 days a week
Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and creative Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to design and execute a variety of desserts and pastries for our guests, ensuring an exceptional dining experience.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop innovative desserts and recipes that compliment the daily dinner offering, catering to up to 80 guests.
Prepare and bake a wide range of pastries, cakes, desserts, and other baked goods, ensuring high-quality standards and presentation.
Demonstrate knowledge and flexibility in creating desserts that accommodate various allergens, ensuring guest safety and satisfaction.
Create homemade ice creams and sauces to complement dessert offerings and enhance the overall dining experience.
Manage special requests for custom birthday cakes and other specialty desserts, tailoring them to guests' preferences and dietary needs.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Manage inventory of baking supplies and ingredients, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock.
Experiment with new techniques and flavor combinations to enhance dessert and bread offerings
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on pastry techniques and best practices.
