Job Description: Staff Chef at Langara Fishing Lodge, Haida Gwaii
Location: Haida Gwaii, BC
Position Type: Contract (May - September)
Shift: 11-hour shifts, 6 days a week
Overview:
Langara Fishing Lodge, nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Haida Gwaii, invites passionate and skilled culinary professional to join our team as Staff Chef. This unique opportunity allows you to work in a complex and challenging environment on a floating barge, where the beauty of nature meets rich cultural heritage.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook buffet style lunch for staff at 12 PM and buffet style dinner at 5 PM, ensuring meals are nutritious, delicious, and accommodating to various dietary preferences and allergies.
• Organize and execute a buffet for guides from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, accommodating various dietary preferences and allergies.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Working alongside the culinary team, being aware of their responsibilities and fostering a supportive work environment.
• Utilize creativity in menu planning and meal preparation.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and time management to thrive in a fast-paced and tight-knit kitchen environment.
• Stay accountable for food safety practices and ingredient sourcing, paying special attention to staff allergies and preferences.
• Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to menu planning and preparation if necessary
• Ensuring meals are served punctually
