Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our team. This role involves preparing a variety of baked goods, ensuring high standards of food safety, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Pastry Chef will play a vital role in creating delicious pastries and desserts that delight our customers and uphold ours reputation for quality.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct the preparation and production of pastry items, desserts, and specialty baked goods within the kitchen.
  • Prepare and create a variety of pastries, desserts, and specialty items such as cakes, tarts, mousses, and plated desserts.
  • Develop new recipes and innovative dessert concepts, ensuring consistency, presentation, and quality standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of pastry cooks, bakers, and kitchen staff.
  • Train staff in pastry techniques, preparation methods, and presentation standards.
  • Ensure all pastry products meet established quality, taste, and presentation standards.
  • Plan menus or dessert offerings and adjust production based on demand and seasonal availability.
  • Estimate ingredient requirements and manage inventory of pastry supplies and kitchen ingredients.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

  • Several years of experience as a pastry chef, cook, baker, or in a related role within a professional kitchen environment.
  • Advanced skills in pastry techniques, dessert creation, and artistic presentation (e.g., cake decorating, plating, chocolate work, and specialty desserts).
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures.
  • Proven experience with commercial kitchen equipment, pastry production processes, and high-volume preparation.
  • Demonstrated creativity and attention to detail in developing and executing high-quality dessert offerings.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Experience supervising, training, or mentoring kitchen staff is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to plan production schedules and manage inventory.
  • Professional communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  • Previous experience in a restaurant, café, or pastry-focused establishment is required.
  • Proficiency in English or French is required.
