As we grow, we’re looking for experienced and driven individuals to help us continue delivering excellent food, service, and guest experiences.
Position Overview
We’re hiring a Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team at The Lunch Lady Vancouver. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is excited to contribute to a dynamic and creative kitchen. You’ll support the Head Chef in overseeing day-to-day operations, mentoring staff, ensuring consistency, and upholding the highest food safety standards.
Responsibilities
• Oversee food preparation and presentation for your station, ensuring consistency and quality
• Support menu development and contribute to seasonal and feature dishes
• Lead and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing on-the-job training and guidance
• Manage inventory and monitor quality control for ingredients and supplies
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness and compliance with food safety standards
• Collaborate with the Head Chef to streamline operations and improve kitchen workflow
• Assist in staff scheduling, ordering, and other operational needs
• Address customer dietary needs and feedback as required
Qualifications
• Experience in Vietnamese cuisine is an asset but not required
• At least 3 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen, with a focus on quality and consistency.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring kitchen staff.
• Strong knowledge of various cuisines, with a particular passion for Vietnamese or Southeast Asian food.
• Ability to create and contribute to menu development, including recipe testing and refinement.
• Solid knife skills, attention to detail, and high standards of food preparation and presentation.
• A valid Food Safe Level 1 certificate is required; Red Seal certification is an asset.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to lift up to 44 pounds and stand for extended periods.
