Job Description

PROJECT MANAGER

- Emergency / Remediation Services -

As Project Manager you will assess and estimate costs to remediate property damages due to fire, smoke, water, wind, etc.


In collaboration with property owners, insurance and construction representatives, you will evaluate and assign the team to safely carry out cleanup and the first phase of returning properties back to their pre-disaster condition.


Your analytical skills, experience and ability to calmly relate to people in all situations will ensure success in helping people and their families return to their previous quality of life.

Based out of Regina, the territory of work is southern Saskatchewan.


Responsibilities:


1.0 Emergency service assessment:


  • Meet with property owners to perform site inspections, assess property damage and determine the cause of loss. Manage and scope the emergency and restoration processes, ensuring alignment with Emergency and Sask Building Code standards.


  • Inform and work cooperatively with property owners to discuss the damage and next steps – provide professional and calm support to assist them throughout the restorative process.


  • Prepare cost estimates on the emergency service and restoration, with support from the Estimator and/or off-site shared service. Establish and maintain project budgets; confirm approval from the insurance firm as well as deductibles and payment schedules. Obtain signed authorization from the client/property owner prior to project start.


2.0 Project Planning


  • Consult with subcontractors and engineers to ensure compliance with all codes, regulations and ordinance. Select and manage qualified subtrades, ensuring instructions and coordination of the work is clearly outlined and followed by the subtrades and emergency crews.


  • Obtain building permits as required. Schedule Building Department Inspections and maintain Building Department reports and directions as required.



3.0 Implementation and Restoration


  • Perform periodic site inspections prior to, during, and upon completion of the project to confirm compliance with the approved estimate. Manage the project budget/estimate. Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and monitor receivables for each project. Analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates, and utilization.


  • Maintain consistent communication with home and business owners, insurance adjusters, property managers, policy holders, tenants, sub-contractors, etc. on all aspects of emergency and restoration projects.


  • Oversee and manage the project assistants, team leads, staff members and sub-contractors to successfully complete projects in a timely and efficient manner. Assist in the resolution of change requests, unforeseen additional work, and other issues. Ensure proper documentation of all changes to the original estimate are secured, specifically written and signed.


  • Ensure compliance with Company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements. Provide the Project Management Team with weekly claim status reports and updates


4.0 Project Windup


  • Obtain inspections when completed. Ensure project documents are complete and current. Ensure the Certificate of Completion is secured and filed prior to close of project.


Estimate 50% field work, 50% office A valid driver’s license is required.


As the selected candidate, you will bring:


Education:

Ideally have valid Certification through IICRC (https://iicrc.org) for: water remediation, fire and smoke restoration, odor control technician, mold remediation, biohazard and trauma. A combination of education and experience will be considered. In-house training is also provided.


Experience:

2+ years of progressive work experience in a Project Management or Supervisory role, preferably within the restoration or construction industry Some safety training/experience is an asset.

Knowledge and experience of the Canadian Restoration Industry is preferred.


Computer

Word, Excel, Outlook. Knowledge of estimating and project reporting software programs is preferred.

Strong analytical skills, decision making and attention to detail.


Knowledgeable in and committed to a high level of safety at all times, in line with company policies, standards and legislation.


Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with an ability to write comprehensive technical reports.


Hours of work: Mon-Friday 8:00-4:30 with some overtime as needed. The position is on call and requires the ability to work flexible hours.
