What You'll Do:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
- Grill a variety of proteins - including steak, fish, and chicken - to order and according to guest preferences.
- Ensure the grill station is fully stocked, prepped, and maintained throughout service.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, with a focus on grills, but including fryers, ovens, and other appliances.
- Monitor cooking times and food temperatures, adjusting as needed to maintain consistency and meet food safety standards.
- Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients, including meats, seafood, vegetables, and sauces.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grill station and the broader kitchen, including workstations, utensils, and storage areas.
- Coordinate food preparation with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handling, storage, and labelling of food items.
- Assist in receiving and storing supplies, rotating inventory for freshness, and supporting inventory management and ordering.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop new menu items, specials, and promotions by contributing creative ideas.
What You'll Need:
- Previous experience as a Grill Cook or in a similar role in a restaurant or culinary environment is preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience working on a grill station in a professional kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of cooking and grilling techniques and proper preparation of steak, fish, and chicken.
- Solid understanding of general cooking methods, food preparation techniques, and kitchen equipment operation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment, , with attention to detail and quality.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with kitchen staff and maintain a positive work environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Legal eligibility to work in Ontario, Canada.
