Salary: $17.6 hourly, + tips, +4% vacation pay

Job Overview:
The bartenders at Utamami craft the beverages that define our atmosphere through creative cocktails, curated wines, premium spirits, and thoughtful non-alcoholic options. This role requires precision, speed, and a deep passion for mixology, all while delivering heartfelt hospitality that reflects Utamami’s values of love, respect, passion, and equality.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of 1-2 years of bartending and serving experience in a full-service restaurant or craft cocktail environment.
Ability to greet guests warmly, anticipate needs, and provide exceptional table service from start to finish.
Skilled at guiding guests through the menu making confident recommendations, and enhancing their experience through storytelling and product knowledge
Handles guest concerns with empathy, composure and a solution focused mindset
Strong understanding of spirits, liquors, wine, sake, spirits and non-alcoholic offerings.
Ability to execute Utamami’s cocktail menu with consistency and accuracy
Skilled in free-pouring, jiggering, shaking, stirring, muddling and garnishing
Understanding of flavour balance and ingredient pairings especially within Japanese and Italian influenced profiles.
Maintains a clean, organized and welcoming bar environment at all times
Ability to explain ingredients, flavours, preparation techniques, and pairing suggestions.
Competent in communicating allergens, dietary restrictions and modifications clearly and safely.
Willingness to learn and stay updated as menus evolve.
Proficient with Square POS or quick to learn new systems is an asset.
Ability to manage multiple tables efficiently while maintaining accuracy and composure.
Strong understanding of pacing, course timing, table maintenance and service sequences.
Capable of working closely with hosts, runners, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
Thorough understanding of food handling basics, cross contamination prevention and safe serve practices.
Must hold a valid Smart Service Certification
Food Handler Certification is preferred but not mandatory
Reliable, punctual and consistent in both performance and professionalism.
Organized, detail-oriented and proactive in identifying and solving problems.

Work Hours:
Must be available to work an average of 30-44.5 hours weekly.
Ability to work flexible shifts; days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires standing for up to 8 hours per shift, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position also requires lifting up to 25lbs from floor to waist, waist to shoulder and shoulder to above head. This position also required twisting, turning, and reaching.
