Position: Floor Leader at Picnic Cafe

About Us: Picnic Cafe, situated in the serene Evergreen Brick Works, is on the lookout for an experienced and motivated Floor Leader to join our team. We are a vibrant café that values not only exceptional service but also expertise in coffee making. As a Floor Leader, you will play a crucial role in managing daily operations, leading our team, and ensuring a superior customer experience. Proficiency with kitchen operations, POS systems, espresso machines, and barista skills is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor team members in sales, customer service, and barista duties.
- Monitor inventory, manage stock levels, and control wastage and labor costs.
- Create and manage weekly schedules.
- Report weekly to management on operational performance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of both front and back of house; ensure sufficient stock levels.
- Address and report health and safety incidents promptly.
- Ensure adherence to store policies, procedures, and controls.
- Onboard and train new hires; introduce them to the team and outline training objectives.
- Foster a positive and motivating team atmosphere through encouragement and recognition.
- Evaluate team performance, provide constructive feedback, and address performance issues.
- Offer coaching to support team growth and development.
- Recommend improvements to policies and practices to enhance operations.
- Complete opening, mid-day, and closing duties with attention to detail.
- Receive, display, and store products from suppliers accurately.
- Oversee cash handling and ensure the security of cash tills.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a café or similar environment; 5 years preferred.
- Proficiency with espresso machines and barista skills required.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to upsell products and drive sales.
- Passion for food and pastries.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Current Food Handlers Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Smart Serve Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Job Details:
Type: Full-Time (4 days per week)
Pay: $25 per hour plus tips
Expected Hours: 30-35 hours per week
Schedule: Friday to Monday, (weekends and holidays)
Work Location: On-Site
