Located on the banks of Humber rive, the rolling land makes the Weston Golf & Country Club an ideal location to put eighteen of the finest golf holes to be found anywhere. Since 1915, golf and friendship has walked hand in hand at the Weston.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Food and Beverage Management team, Bartenders create a positive dining experience by displaying excellent beverage and food knowledge throughout the various bars in the Club.
Bartenders are required to act as ambassadors and representatives of the Club as Member perceptions of the Club in general are influenced by the front-line staff they encounter.
Essential Functions:
▪ Always report to work in full uniform as per the posted schedule.
▪ Open and close the bar according to Club standards.
▪ Maintain a welcoming environment through strict cleanliness and attention to detail.
▪ Create a positive Member experience through interaction and adherence to steps of service.
▪ Be knowledgeable of all beverage and food items to make recommendations.
▪ Prepare drinks in a fast and accurate manner.
▪ Ensure accuracy when entering information into the POS system.
▪ Ensure Members are satisfied with their food, beverages, and service.
▪ Respond promptly and courteously to any requests or concerns.
▪ Able to successfully solve problems through good decision making.
▪ Monitor cleanliness of bar area and ensure it is presentable before, during and after service.
▪ Ensure bar is adequately stocked prior to service.
▪ Wash, polish and arrange glassware is a neat and tidy manner.
▪ Prepare requisitions for food and beverage items and stock items as required.
▪ Actively demonstrate teamwork, sincerity, helpfulness, and courtesy.
▪ Report all equipment and maintenance issues to the Manager on Duty.
▪ Knowledgeable about the employee handbook and follow all the policies.
▪ Other duties as assigned or required.
Health and Safety:
All employees have a responsibility to ensure that the Club is a healthy and safe environment. Employees must:
▪ Work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and the Club’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.
▪ Use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the Club.
▪ Report to your manager/supervisor any known equipment or protective device that may be dangerous, missing, or defective.
▪ Report any known workplace hazard or violation of the Act or regulations to your manager/supervisor.
▪ Report all accidents, illness, or “near miss” incidents to your manager/supervisor immediately.
▪ Not remove or disable any protective device.
▪ Handle hazardous substances according to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System regulations.
▪ Work safely and not use or operate any equipment in a way that may endanger any worker.
▪ Not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, running or rough and boisterous conduct which may jeopardize your safety or the safety and well-being of others.
▪ Work in compliance with the OHSA, specifically section 28.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
▪ Minimum one year prior bartending experience in a similar environment.
▪ A secondary school diploma is preferred.
▪ Excellent communication skills required.
▪ Professional appearance and attitude.
▪ Excellent customer service skills.
▪ Time management skills.
▪ Knowledge of health and safety regulations is required.
▪ Smart Serve Certified.
▪ Understanding of the Club’s POS System (JONAS) is an asset.
Working Conditions:
▪ Able and willing to lift to 50lbs to move stock.
▪ Able to move tables, chairs and other furniture when required.
▪ Able to work on feet for entire shift.
▪ Able and willing to work flexible shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays
