Position Summary
As Sommelier, you will be essential in creating remarkable dining experiences and connecting with guests through high-quality, wine service standards. This role requires the candidate to have extensive wine knowledge and a passion for sharing innovative wine offerings that complement the restaurant’s culinary vision. This position reports to the Wine Director and Beverage Director.
Position Responsibilities
• Wine Service Excellence: Partner with Wine Director to ensure that wine service standards are upheld at your restaurant, consistently delivering exceptional wine experiences.
• Guest Engagement: Engage with guests, offering wine recommendations, and fostering an exceptional guest experience that highlights the wine program.
• Wine Expertise: Share your passion for wine through engaging discussions and tastings, elevating guests' understanding and appreciation of our offerings.
• Inventory Control: Manage wine inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels to ensure smooth operations.
• Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends and new vintages to continually enhance your expertise and enrich our wine offerings.
Skills & Qualifications
• Experience: Proven track record in a wine-related position within the hospitality industry, with experience supporting wine programs, and driving wine sales in high-end restaurants or fine dining establishments.
• Wine Knowledge: Deep expertise in wine regions, varietals, pairing principles, and trends in the industry. Experience in complex wine lists that align with culinary concepts.
• Customer-Focused: A passion for providing exceptional guest experiences through personalized wine recommendations and memorable service.
• Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage your restaurants wine collection and responsibilities effectively, including inventory, ordering, and reporting.
• Wine Certification: Certifications such as WSET, CMS or equivalent, and Serving it Right
• Educational Background: A relevant educational qualification, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or equivalent experience, is preferred but not required.
• Exceptional Skills: Your communication and interpersonal skills are exemplary, allowing you to engage with guests in a refined manner that enhances their experience.
