Job Overview:
As our restaurant continues to grow, we are seeking highly motivated individuals with a strong ability to enhance the guest experience through personalized beverage/food recommendations. A key aspect of this role is confidently guiding guests through our extensive sake/alcohol menu and driving sales through thoughtful suggestions. We are especially looking for candidates who excel in this area, as it will play a significant role in our hiring decisions. Reports To: General Manager, Manager and Executive Management Team.

Core Responsibilities:
• Driving sales through curated recommendations to guests.
• Prepare restaurant for service and maintain cleanliness of restaurant at all times.
• Courteously greet guests and assist in seating, ensuring restaurant’s standards of service are adhered to.
• Take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to restaurant specifications.
• Collect payment and close guest checks in accordance with restaurant standards and maintain accountability for all financial transactions.
• Preparing cocktails.
• Assist in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment.
• Anticipate guest needs.
• Check on guest satisfaction.
• Handle complaints and concerns of guest by following Hello Nori guidelines.
• Provide food and beverage product knowledge.
• Practice responsible alcohol service.
• Keep up in a fast-paced environment and have an understanding for customer turnover rate.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing efficient customer turnover.

Essential:
• Minimum of 19 years of age.
• Good oral communication skills.
• Previous experience in similar serving position.
• Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
• Serving it Right certification.

Desirable:
• Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and Japanese cuisine.
• Prior guest relations training.
• Ability to communicate in second language.
• Prior bartending experience.

Qualifications:
• Ability to understand guests' service needs.
• Ability to access and input information into POS system.
• Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when preparing drinks and providing service to guests within any given period of time.
• Ability to suggestively sell restaurant menu items, beverages and wines.
• Ability to focus on details.
• Ability to exercise good judgments in determining potentially intoxicated guests.
• Ability to maintain good coordination while preparing and serving orders quickly.
• Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

Essential Job Functions:
• Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up and dress code of the restaurant.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes in the restaurant.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation method/time, major ingredients and quality standards of taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, garnish and method of presentation.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by province liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
• Maintain complete knowledge of POS and manual systems.
• Greet and acknowledge all arriving guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• When necessary, escort guests to seats and assist in seating.
• Complete opening duties.
• Check cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas; rectify any deficiencies – monitor throughout shift.
• Stock condiments as laid out in restaurant standards.
• Stock and polish a sufficient supply, glassware and chinaware for service - replenish wares in side stations throughout shift.
• Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain budgeted beverage cost and to prevent waste.
• Properly store all reusable goods.
• Prepare all drink orders for guests according to restaurant recipes.
• Use chemicals in accordance with provincial regulations and restaurant requirements.
• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
• Handle guest complaints quickly and efficiently. Seek management assistance if needed.
• Clear & set tables according to service standards.
• Review daily specials and maintain awareness of items throughout the shift.
• Take guests' food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
• Serve all food and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with restaurant standards.
• Remove soiled wares from tables as assigned and transport to dishwashing area.
• Transport dirty dishes from restaurant to breakdown area; separate wares and food according to procedures.
• Total all charges and present guest checks.
• Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures.
• Extend appreciation for guests' patronage.
• Clean and reset tables immediately after guest departs in accordance with restaurant procedures.
• Clean all equipment as assigned in the side duties.
• Restock items for next service.
• Marry and stock all condiments.
• Complete closing side duties and inform management of your departure.
• Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule.
• Communicate maintenance needs to management.
