Job Description

Job Title: Sous Chef

Location: Nodo restaurant, Liberty Village.

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations, quality food preparation, and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will be passionate about cooking, have strong leadership skills, and be able to handle a fast-paced, dynamic kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in the planning, preparation, and execution of menu items.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring proper training, productivity, and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Maintain a high standard of food quality, presentation, and taste at all times.
  • Help with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining kitchen stock levels.
  • Ensure all food safety regulations and guidelines are followed.
  • Assist in the creation of new dishes and menu items.
  • Monitor food preparation and cooking techniques to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Manage the kitchen during service in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Assist with scheduling, labor cost management, and shift supervision.
  • Handle any customer complaints or special requests related to food quality or dietary preferences.
  • Ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.

Requirements:

  • 2-year previous Senior Cook or Sous Chef experience in high volume kitchen or equivalent experience
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and food safety standards.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • A passion for culinary arts and innovation.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality food.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and work for long periods of time.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in hot, noisy, and fast-paced environments.
